Ruturaj (and Nitin).. hi.. the asian aro is on the cites list and there is no clear idea with most fish keepers if we can own an asian or not in india.. yes i'm aware of people with asian aros here.. with the "chalta hai" attitude i doubt any agency will try to take the fish off you once it gets into the country.. i've seen a lot of RTG here.. just double check with the certificate before you buy.. prob the farm can authenticate if you mail them with the chip number??? all the best with the new aro.. leave the pleco out.. let the aro get to be atleast 12".. please post pics of your aro when you get it.. cheers.

hey guys I am buying a golden cross back arowana 6 inch approx price is 160$ in here (India)
I have tank of 6X2X2 actually it's 2.5 feet high but I fill it up to 2 feet only
tank would be bare bottom
I am going to keep it with pleco of approx same size
filter would be ehim 2217 and 300 watt jagar heater
1)Which strain of pleco is good with arowana?
2)I am confused about tank mates since more fish- more bio waste and I can't afford one more canister I will be adding some air stones too. Can I go for tank mates which produce less bio waste?

Indian is starting to get into arowana breedig. BUT these i doubt will be true XBs. I think they may be RTG labelled only as XB.
if not bred in india and labelled under indian terms, what farm from singapore, I WOULD NOT BUY ONE THAT DOESNT HAVE A CHIP.
a chip guarantees the farm or selector and the strain.

Your eheim is a good filter but it is low in capacity.
i wouldnt have much more fish in here than maye 1 arowna and 3 other smaller fish.

In fact, i wouldnt bother with anythign else but an arowana and maybe a pleco.

I would recommend a meat eating plecos. Scarlet, Cactus, sunshine plecos.
because they dot produce as much waste as panaques and clog up your filters.

Wow just $160....! Nice would love to see them....
2217 & a good top filter with a high flow rate will be enuf... Leave the pleco out.... You could consider few clown loaches or even bichirs later maybe once the Aro is settled...

Long time bro.... Hope all well with ya and ur babies.... How u coping with the monsoon and the temp drop....

Yup regarding XB it is a grey area I guess... And it depends on how one is bringing it inside the country... Hand carry mostly I suppose... Are we allowed to import? There is a restriction on import of live fish yea?
