How can I get new cichla introduced to a tank of thriving cichla to eat? The existing cichla just dominate the food and the new ones never even get a chance to eat. Not to mention, I'm not even sure if they eat pellets. What should I do? I am considering changing the aquascape so they re-establish territory but other than that, I don't have a clue.

You have the best case scenario when it comes to getting new cichla to eat. The new ones will learn from the existing ones and will start to eat in no time, just keep feeding like you are doing and make sure you add alittle bit more than normal and they will eventually start eating, no doubt about it, ive seen it happen tons of times in the past.

Alright sounds good! I was hoping that would be the answer. I guess I'm just concerned because these guys were pretty skinny the moment I took them home from the LFS. Thanks!

They still haven't eaten.. Should I be alarmed. It's been about a week since I got them

Pics....?

But i agree with rlane.
Sometimes its the eat or die method.
In PITA circumstances u need a seperate tank to get em eating. Then introduce em to the main.

As what gangsta said, pics, how skinny we talking? If bellies are pretty sunken they "may" have internal parasites in which the bass will not eat until the parasites are treated, hope this is not the case.
Also ask your LFS where you bought them from what they were feeding them.

What size are the bass?

They are about 3.5 inches. I'll get pics when I get home. Just rearranged the tank so hopefully that will help. Bellies aren't too bad but it's clear that they're hungry

They have started coming to the side of the tank that I feed on during feeding but they don't pay any attention to the pellets

what kind of fish, new and existing, If Africans I am no help there.
