Okay guys, I've had this ornate for probably a little over a month and all that I have observed him eat was some shrimp pellets about a week after I got him. I drop food in the back for him but I never see him eat, so how should I get him to take filets since I know he did away with some of my giant danios...

To be honest I wouldn't be too concerned, drop a nice pile of cut up filet just before lights out. If you've seen it eat shrimp pellets it could help to drop a few right on top of the filet to attract it's attention. My endli won't show itself in the daylight so I always make sure to srop a bunch of hikari carnivore pellets before bed when I know he's slightly more active.

You can mix the shrimp pellets with the filets so the aroma can mingle. That might help.

The ornates will definately eat fillets soon. those are irresistable for bichirs. It just takes time. Starve the ornate for a few days and then feed the ornate fillets when the lights are out at night. The next, morning I bet they will be gone and there will be a fat ornate!
