That is too bad, I don't know what I would do in your situation. Bummer....

I've not heard that one yet for getting out of the hobby... but you gotta do what you gotta do. Sorry to hear...

I believe it. I had to stop keeping reptiles cause I developed an allergic reaction after keeping them for years and handling them on a daily basis.

That happened to one of my friends with bloodworms when he was breeding pygmy sunfish. His hards would swell and blister.

I could always use the feeding tongs I use for my tarantula and Nepenthes, but it would take forever. Water changes are another big problem. If there are any cuts on my hands then the same thing happens.

I'm still doing the sculptures, just not as frequently as I used to. Cliental has been low.

I used to use rubber cleaning gloves to keep my hands from breaking out and getting blisters

Sorry to hear you have to get out of fish keeping. I thought of you this summer and wondered what you were up to. Did you more with carnivorous plants this past summer? If you are ever in the NW corner of CA, PM me and I'll be happy to show you our local Darlingtonia Californica. And thanks for opening my eyes to look for one of our local plants.

Ouch, that sucks... although i guess not un-heard of, since a lot of people can develop allergies later on in life...

Just seems like such a shame to leave the hobby, although i guess if your health is at risk, then thats an entirely different reason to most leaving the hobby...

That’s a bummer however on a positive note fish allergies are commonly outgrown. My brother had a bunch of allergies when he was younger including fish. He could touch them however if he ate them he would go into anaphylactic shock and had an epi pen for it. Now we eat fish and shellfish all the time. He can’t touch nuts though or he goes into shock so I know how sensitive allergies can be. His throat even s wells up when we go down south to fruit stands that boil peanuts.
