So on February 10th I put my striped raphael cat into my 75 from my 30. He wasn't acting right from the start. He would come out during lights on, swim and breath frantically, doesn't eat (1.5 months later still hasn't). I tried giving him salt baths: didn't work. I tried medicating with general cure: didn't work. I tried feeding every imaginable food under the sun: didn't work. At this point I don't know how he has gone that long without eating. For a while he was shedding slime coat but thankfully that stopped. I really can't tell at this point if he is still sick or has just adopted nocturnal habits. Occasionally he still goes on swims during lights on but he has always done that. I know I'm impatient but I've been waiting for almost 2 months now to put ny centerpiece fishes in and it's getting annoying. I keep hearing different things. Some people say don't put any fish in since now there are parasites in my water and others say parasites are always in the water and it's just the fish. I have him in with a sailfin pleco and giant danios and neither of them show any signs of sickness. I worry about putting more fish in since one of them that I have reserved is still very young and very expensive (2" and $64). Do you guys think I can put fish in yet? Should i keep treating him or let what happens happen?

What was in the 30 with him before? Are you certain he's not eating little left overs? Mine was out constantly during the day and I never saw him eat once, that happened for 6 months! Great fish, just very strange sometimes

I'm pretty sure they are nocturnal. I've had one for more than 10 years and only have seen him a handful of time. Most of them is when I've moved it to different tanks. I just throw a few pellets in after lights out. I have never seen it eat. Mine hides in a cave all day long.

the thing is in the 30 he came out to eat all the time when lights were on. Tankmates WERE sailfin mollies, a blue gourami, an angelfish, penguin tetras, and bronze cories

So what some of you are saying is I should be fine. And I can put in more fish now right?
i mean I don't see how he could live for almost 2 months without eating anything so maybe he is eating scraps now.

Starting with a healthy state, catfish in general can go on for several months without eating. Even 6 months is not a record by any means.
