Getting rid of andkeeping out algae

Snails. Snails clean algae up super well! Get a mystery snail or two and they will clean it right up. Especially since it is just a little 10 gallon. Snails also eat some of the poop so that will help there. Bushynose plecos are VERY efficient cleaners as well and they don't get very large. As your bass starts to grow, however, he might find an interest in a small bushynose (but if he starts to grow, he'll need a larger tank anyway). Also, if your tank is near a window the algae will grow more. Light contributes to the growth, ESPECIALLY sunlight. And like someone said above, pink gravel is not the best choice if you want to avoid seeing algae and other contamination. Most healthy tanks have a certain amount of algae in them, that's why a natural colored or black gravel is best, you can't see the algae very well on them. Good Luck!

good call on the gravel. think ill go with a darker color when i decide to buy some

in a very short while algae is going to be the least of your problems. you need a larger tank. a much larger tank.

+1. use this research to discover how to avoid algae in that much larger tank you're going to be keeping since you're going to be scrapping this one soon anyways

Larger tank and a bushynose pleco are my thoughts. Who wants a ten gallon tank anyway?

Well said! If it would take less than a month to drink the amount of water in your tank, it's not big enough. 10 gallons could be done in a week!
