getting rid of BBA

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
do you dose any fertilizers? also what is you lighting? flourish exel has been known to kill this stuff>>

i dont dose any fertilizers. there really is no need to, the only plants in the tank are anubius. The lighting is 30 watts of NO, but the tank gets sunlight from morning til night because its infront of a window in the fish room.

Im going to try flourish, i already have a bottle for my planted tank but my planted tank doesnt need it. I havent dosed the planted tank in months and all the plants are growing better than they were when i was dosing it.

I had a thick cover of bba on most of my plants then one day it was gone. I have no clue what got rid of it. It was either the mollies, the snail infestation, or the nutrients and light balanced itself out.

Cool...weird...but cool

i have seen some nasty cases of BBA.

another cure you can do it take tetra aquasafe and angerly squirt it on the effected areas and let it sit for a bit. there is something in it that kills it good. in like 10-15 minutes. haha. and its safer then bleach. :P

on the flourish make sure its the excel. the others will just help the BBA out.

I read somewhere american flag fish eat it.my bn plecos ate the small amount that was growing in their tank

i really kinda like the stuff myself. looks more natural, as long as it isnt overgrown.

AFF do eat it but they can get real nippy towards the fins of over fish esp if they have long ones

dose flourish EXCEL 3x the reccomended dosing for 14 days. it may cause harm to your fish or may not. but after 14 days, it WILL be gone. mark my word.

14 days is a LONG time to OD with it. it killed it in my tank in under a week with 1 cap per 10 gallon every day. you only need to get a "co2" bump to above 30ppm
