Getting rid of Brown Algae

Pool filter sand is mainly silica sand, which aids in diatom growth. It will go away soon enough. Proper weekly water changes, and time it'll grow into green algae. Light schedules add to diatom growth too. It thrives on insufficient light. So either your bulbs are now not efficient or your lights arnt on long enough.

yep for sure but not always the best idea to leave lights on longer i had a dual bulb 48" t5h0 fixture with a 10000k/actini 420 bulb and it made it even worse the way i got rid of my brown algea was putting on a single t8 fixture and a aqua glo bulb for 8-10hrs a day for a month .... tossed the t5h0 out :)
