Getting Sand from River Bed.

You'd have to wash it a lot since the river bed is dry and probably has a lost of finer dust in it. Try getting it from the river itself since you clean it a bit at the same time you collect it.

I'd be weary of chemicals, other pollutants, and critters (parasites, bacteria, etc.). I'd rinse it thoroughly and boil it after that to try to limit the potential problems.

most sands you see outdoors is too fine for aquarium use. It will go anaerobic and pollute your tank
