I just got back from a couple months on the road so I decided to get my 72 BF going as a salt tank. I figured I would keep this updated with pics as things progress. Im always open to questions, comments and critcism so fire away.

Quick Rundown of whats going on in the tank-
72 BF
Rena XP3
AquaC Remora skimmer
Fishneedit 4 bulb T5HO fixture with 2 10k and 2 actinic bulbs
K3
250w ebo jager

Today I filled her up, added some sand and got my light set up. I will be adding live rock shortly.

I am not even a little hesitant to use a canister on a reef tank, I am super meticulous about maintenance. I might transfer my current reef to it since the Renas are so easy to clean out. I have no problems cleaning it weekly. Its impossible to see, but the background is flat black.

My plan as of now is to get this tank cylced and throw my current reef tank into it and add a Niger trigger or a Blue Jaw along with my current stock. Hopefully by the end of next week I will have 70+ lbs of live rock in it and then i can make my mind up for sure. I am really tempted to make this a clown trigger tank since theres a really nice one for sale locally. I am just glad that im in no hurry to stock this tank so i have plenty of time to weigh the options.

Hot damn, that's the exact tank that I am setting up. I am just on a more extended path of setting it up due to the amount of money it takes at start up.

Love the tank, I am sure it will be awesome.

Little Update

I added 30 lbs of the CaribSea fine sand and 60 lbs of live rock and 25 lbs of dry rock. Still not sure if I will keep the rocks like that or change it up.

I also decided on my first 2 fish when its ready. A local guy taking down his tank is holding on to a purple tang and niger trigger for me.

nice man, i really like the rocks. I know they can get irritating though, i change mine all the time. Can never settle.

Thanks, I might just get more live rock instead of moving this all around.

Purple tangs can be aggresive as...all heck. So watch out in a 72g with other fish.

I will see how it goes. At least this one was raised in a community with a bunch of other fish and the niger trigger is its buddy so hopefully there wont be problems. Only time will tell though. Thanks
