Getting the 72 goin

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks really really nice. I don't think you need to remove anything, just keep things trimmed as they grow out.

Couple of pics for Pazzoman who was wondering about my lights on my 72.

Here is how I have the lights on my 72. I have the legs on the 30" fixture pushed up against the inside of the tank rim so it can't go anywhere. I have one leg on the back side resting on the center brace. I know it looks bad, but it helps gets the job done and gives extra light to the bow.

I was out of town 3.5 weeks and the tank looked terrible so I have some work to do on it. Water level was way down and there is some bad algae going on that definitely wasn't before so no pics of the tank, just the lights. Skimmate looked like thick black coffee and the collection cup was almost full. The person looking after it used more food in 3.5 weeks than I have in 3 months. Oh well, at least there were no losses.

Brad, it looks as if you have an RBTA in there, and that it has split for you...depending on where you are in Illinois I might be willing to meet you and throw some cash for one of those! My usual source has been pokey so I want to start a colony of my own.

Im probably farther south than you would want to go, I live in Bloomington, IL. but I would have no problem getting rid of one if you are ever heading this way. I actually have 4 of them but 3 are packed into about a dinner plate sized area on the right.

Want to meet in Chicago? :D

They are great nems. Hardy in high light, so they work well on modern reefs and split like crazy if fed. The only reason I dont have one already (other than my supplier hosing me) is that I would be worried about ending up with a ton, and wasting SPS space.
