Getting Tropheus as fry.

I decited to go with Tropheus Ikola (20x) in a 75g tank. I could not find any good place to sell Ikolas except one, but the problem is that place has Ikolas of 0.75"~ (2cm~).

Is it hard to raise them from this size? Will it be posible to do in a 75g tank? Won't they get kinda lost and hard to get the food?

Im planning to feed them crushed spirulina flakes.

Could anyone answer my questions and maybe give me few more tips? Maybe I Ikolas that small aint worth getting?
 
id say at that size you risk loosing a lot so small how many are you putting in? and have you kept tropheus before?
 
Anyways I got them. Here is a picture.

Gave them cyclops this morning. Ate like pigs.

You should have no problem with the tropheus. Keep up with the water changes and feed them some spirulina in their daily diet. Good luck.
 
I have Tropheus Ikola, great fish! Clean water and routine are key to keeping them healthy. By routine, I mean change the water on the same day every week, feed at the same time every day , have an automatic timer for lights on and off, etc. Lots of people struggle with Trophs, but this was a tip given to me long ago, that I really think helps. Also, keep some Metronidizole on hand for the first sign of bloat. You may see it in a few days due to the stress of acclimation.
 
So far so good. They are now even begging for food when I raise my hand above the tank. I feed them spirulina (40%, JBL brand) crushed flakes and some frozen cyclops.

My tap water is 7.45-7.6 PH, I am not planning to use any buffers. Breeder didint either. He had all his fry in gravel free tanks and with water drip system (100L per day of fresh water in 340L aquarium) his PH was at low 7.
 
Your little guys should do fine my wife and I have found more trouble moving larger trophs. Don't feed feed them to much meaty food as that causes more trouble than any thing with them. We feed ours spirulina flakes full time with a treat of meaty pellets. You should probably put a power head in the tank to move lots of water they also suffer from not enough oxygen in the water. Put it so it aims at the surface to ripple the water. Good luck you'll love your tropheus very entertaining to watch as they never quit moving.
