hey dude, you can get a really efficent set up at wal mart for around 50 bucks, well, wall mart and home depot. you can get large clear rubermaid containers for like 16 bucks canadian, that are like 4 feet by 2 feet, and a whisper filter for 18 canadian, find a rock in the garden, and than all you need are a few lights. if you have a decent lamp, that can support 60 wats or higher, get a "plant" style light, full spectrum, and than you can get a cheep flourescent strip light for anopther 10-20 bucks if you look around properley. here is my set up for my slider.

Mud and musk turtles aren't baskers so they don't need UV light or a heat bulb. Just make sure the water doesn't get too cold and he has a place to come out if he wants to.

thats a beauty of a turtle you got there :) i'd say keep it there very common turtles so you wont be hurting the local population any, probly saved its life lol turtles will use all the room you give him so bigger is always better. be glad, be VERY glad that its not a snapper, or worse, an aligator snapping turtle...that would be extremely bad...those things get HUGE, they weigh twice as much as i do full grown
