alright so apparently i can take care of monster fish in a monster tank but not a 75gal guppy tank..:nilly:

anyways..rinsed out my gf's 75gal glass..placed it on the stand..yada yada filled it up..i'm using gravel as a substrate..switched from sand becuase i thought it was a problem..have 2 fake plants and some big rocks from a cichlid tank..

tankmates are 3 fancy goldfish..only like .5"

2 cory cats

1 betta

and 4 guppies..

the guppies keep "flashing"..on the ground..not on the rocks from the cichlid tank...

i tried with a heater..and now i'm trying without a heater..the tank is fullly cycled with a rena xp3..switched form (2) ac70's..thought there was too much current for them..but nonetheless..the guppies always get white fungus on them..or bacteria infection..i tried dosing the tank with pimafix...a couple months later with melafix too..to make sure the first dose of medicine was out of the tank first..no other fish has ever died in that 75gal tank except the guppies:screwy::cry:...so if anyone see's anything wrong with this please let me know!!

my gf is totally fixe'd on guppies..and i keep losing money !! haha

if anyone see's anything wrong again please let me know

and of course i dechlorinate the water with amquel..and add stresscoat as well.

I keep my guppies in hard alkaline water and at 80F. I also place salt at a teaspoon per gallon. When I started out my wife's guppies, I didn't add salt. I had enough losses that I referred to several guppy sites and found out about the benefits of salt addition. I don't lose guppies any more since adding the salt.

so everytime i do a water change..i should add the salt to the 5gal bucket?..and should i be using the salt for ich infection?..or marine salt?..i know stupid question

the Betta and the goldfish are most likely killing your guppys i keep a beta in a 10g and it hates guppys i guess they think there Betta but i know something you can replace the guppys with clown killifish and other colorful killifish she would love those and so would you that why you don't have to deal with weak guppys anymore

on a side not..the goldfish never mess with the guppies...and the betta doesn't either haha..he never nips at them or anything..i think he think's he is a guppy..just talked to the gf though.it was a "no go" on the killies..she want's her guppies haha

Ya man if its a new setup, its just new tank syndrome. You should have started the tank with feeders for a month or so then add guppies. They're just not hardy enough. Better to lose $5 worth of feeders, than to lose $50 in guppies. Get a water test kit, regular aquarium salt, and Prime. Those are the only supplies anyone needs for their F.W. aquarium. Do a 50% water change daily until the loss of feeders is reduced. REMEMBER, Prime and aquarium salt and don't vacuum the gravel, let beneficial bacteria stabilize your aquarium. Good Luck.
