GG Needing larger tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for all the great replies!!

I want to seal the drain because I already know it does not seal very well and has a slow drip. The viniger and lemon is a great tip that I'm sure to use.

Since it is going to be just the one fish in the tub (I may put the regular gouramis that she swims with now in there too) with no plant material (she eats everything green, even plastic) I did not think the square filter would dirty very fast.

As for the heater, I dont think the tub is very well insulated and it is a fiberglass type of tub, which is why I'm kind of leary to put a heater in it. I am going to fill the tub and take temp checks over a several day period to see how stable the water temp is and if it stays between 75 and 80 degrees.

I will post pics tomorrow of the tub as it sits currently....Thanks again for the answers...

I forgot to say that when it comes time to do WC I plan to bucket out 10-20 gals and them un-silicone the drain, drain the tub, rinse the bottom out (similar to vaccuming the bottom), re-silicone the drain and refill the tub and add the old water back. I would not "clean" the tub out only do a quick rinse.

Fiberglass will hold the temp a little more stable than the metal.

You can use a heater if necessary just mount it on somehting so it's not in direct contact with the 'pond' (a rock, a castle, a bridge etc.).

I'm guessing your not doing twice-weekly W/C's :D.

Sounds like you've got a plan...is it done yet...Huh...is it?!

I think I asked before but I've forgotten...Where 'bout are you at in Fla lilith?

Its not done yet but I will post pre pics tomorrow....I'm up in Gainesville (Gator Nation, USA) and....no, :grinno: its not going to be twice weekly water chages...I have found that my feeding regiment and stocking choices lend themselves to infrequent water changes and I only do water changes once every month or two...some may critisize that but when my water quality is excellent (nitrates 0, ammonia 0, nitrites 0, pH rages depending on tank, temp rages depending on tank but stable) and my fish are in great health and growing like weeks I'm not changing my process...:headbang2

Thanks for the input....:)

Maybe you should consider more frequent W/C's since your fish are already under enough stress being in "Gator Nation, USA".:ROFL::ROFL:

:j/k: (maybe) :D

BTW has anyone done something like this before?
