ghost black knifefish...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if it fits in the fishs mouth itll end up there.

also if you have a HOB check there i usually fine my fishes in there when they "disappears"

my initial 3.5" inch bgk went missing. He was actually quite curious and swimming around the first 5 hours we had him. We went to dinner, came back home (maybe gone 3 hours max) and he was gone. I gave him a week, never did find him. I tore apart my canister filter thinking he may have somehow ended up there, but didn't see him. Checked every decoration and again couldn't find him... Checked all around the tank and within several feet "just incase"... I never did find him. All my fish are fairly small, too. The largest being a silver dollar sized parrot fish.

I ended up replacing him with a slightly larger (6-7") bgk and he has been doing great. No clue what happened, but that was a nice chunk of money down the drain in only a few hours!

Crazy!

Yeah my 6" BGK hides in his log untill the lights go out. I have him in a heavilly planted tank and still this fish is always in his log... At least I know where to locate him. The log goes with the fish whichever tank he's in-just so I can always find him!

+1 here. Double check that filter if you have one.

First time I kept a BGK, it was in an aquarium with a HOB filter, found it the next day in the filter tube. Learned my lesson there. Always have some sort of filter sponge of some sort to keep fish out of.

i have had one of my cichlids disappear but never my black ghost that I used to have. They are notoriously good hiders. If it weren't for having visible "hiding places" I would have never seen mine except for at night when we would look for food

maybe he jumped or is just a master hider
