Ghost Shrimp and Eggs

we just got several ghost shrimp and noticed alot of them had eggs. we were wondering if it was very hard to breed them and how long til thhe eggs hatch

Generally they hold the eggs for 21-24 days. But not telling how long they have had them for. If you see little black dots forming it will be soon as that means their eyes are forming.

They aren't hard to breed as long as conditions are right. You should only use sponge filters in the tank that the shrimp are to be raised in as any other filter could suck the fry up. Also, it should be a shrimp only as any fish can eat the fry as they are so small when hatched. Water conditions should be pristine as well. About a 20% water change every few days should suffice.

Thats about all there is too breeding shrimp. Just be sure not to underfeed or overfeed as that would muck up the water.

ghost shrimp ( glass shrimp ):

eggs need brackish water to hatch and then slowly turned back to freshwater after a certine period of time..

thats all i know of so far.

Braskish water can be iffy. There is more then one species of ghost shrimp. Some need brackish for them to hatch. I have a tank for breeding ghost shrimp and I have never added salt and they hatch quite well.

I had my ghost shrimp make a family with a filter on (no fry sucked up) but sadly my Clown knife found them and ate the whole group.

Exactly. Have raised them too, without any salt.
