LFS was out of feeders and i bought a dozen ghost shrimp. Can i use these as feeders?

For pbass, oscar, paratalapia?

I have seen other people do it, but like adding any fish or invert in case, theres a chance of it or its water carrying disease or parasites. These are not kept like feeders so there is a better chance of the being disease and parasites free. If your worried about it and you have spare small tank you could set up a spare tank and quarantine them or even breed them. If you go to all the trouble of breeding them you might think of getting crystal red shrimp or cherry red shrimp. They cost a little more but they look really cool.

well i just didnt know if it would harm my fish given thier shell. i am trying to get them off of feeders but its been to long since one of them ate so he needs to be fed

Ghost shrimp are sold as feeders- that's why they're so cheap and usually next to the feeder fish. ;-)
Shell should be fine, most people that use market shrimp leave shells on as well (but remove the tail spine).

yep.. they make good feeders... ive got a 60 gallon tank set up just for this very reason

Even ghost shrimp molts can be fed to fish, especially puffers, as a dietary iodine supplement.

ooops.... The only place I have seen them they, now that I think of it, next to the feeders. They were like 50 cent each, thats a expensive for a small feeder though.

I usually see them between 20 and 30 cents each.
