Vampire shrimp I've found to be quite hardy and they don't disturb much (nor seem to be easily disturbed). Ideally, you'd want a tank that has a nice current and decor that allows the shrimp to park itself there with its fans out to collect food particles. They don't love very aggressive or active tank mates. However, I have one with a 5" Amazon prawn and he is doing just fine.
I feed mine spirulina flakes, algae wafers and shrimp pellets (all finely crushed up and added to the current under the spray bar).
