Hi

do ghost shrimp have a decent nutritional value or are they purely for fish to practice their predation skills on?

Thanks
Matt

feed them to my fish quite regulaly so hope there good for them

I think that their nutritional value is probably not the greatest. Great for a once or twice a week treat, but that's about it.

your ghost shrimp eat whatever food is in the tank. ive noticed mine always seem to have full stomaches. so even if the shrimp itself dosent hold much value, atleast you get the added value of whatever the shrimp has in its stomache. however small it may be......

Thanks

how long do ghost shrimp last in your water. Mine die after about 10/20mins. Why do they die? are they brought uo in brakish water so die when they go into fresh?

Thanks
Matt

being almost entirely made up of water theres almost 0 nutritional value feeding ghost shrimps to any fish..

Matt what other fish you have in the tank? How do you acclimate them?
Do they have places to hide?

ghost shrimp are not bad nutritionaly even though they look like they all water, they are much better than brine shrimp though not as rich as mysids.
Here is a breakdown that I found online,
Per 100 grams
Protien 17-20.3 grams
lipids 1.5-1.7 grams
Vitamin B complex 3mg
vitamin C 2 mg

It helps to gut load the shrimp first by feeding them a high quality flake food.
As to why your shrimp die so quickly, I don't know, never had that problem.
