Have just under 30 of these guys in my tanks now. Have a few in all of the larger tanks to eat debris that falls to the bottom b/c they are cheaper than bottom feeders and for us, nicer looking. We have about 20 of them in our 33 gallon display tank cuz they are really neat to watch climbing all over the driftwood and rocks and they eat soft algae and dirt off our driftwood and plants. They also grow very rapidly and develop some small bands of colour when they are in good condition. All of ours developed some pink and white bands in certain areas once theyd been in our tanks long enough.
Our only complaint thus far has been our inability to get any babies out of them. One female with eggs exploded or something and the other we havent seen in ages. We'd like to raise some of the babies to use as feeders but havent had much luck yet. They are good with our small fish, even fry, and because they crawl, theyre fun to watch as something different in the tank.
