hey guys... i'm planning to get a giant gourami. the white/pinkish ones.

but before i buy it's always a MUST to know about em! hehehehe. i've read through a few articles about em and i have a good idea of the 'basics" tho, i still have a few doubts regarding some things.

so here goes the questions:

What are the growth rates of these fishes?
any possible tankmates from the list of fishes i have in my signature?
and are they compatible with dats in a tank?

I have one but it is still small,so I can't so much comment on the tankmates.I'm going to try with dats but we'll see.

but about their color,I have heard people say that giant gouramis sold as a white/albino or pink gourami are the same thing but I have personally seen an LFS selling a "albino giant gourami" for $75 that almost looked like what I see some calling platinum or snow or whatever and in a tank next to it a "pink giant gourami" that was more flesh colored about the same size for only $10.

Awhile later I saw one labeled as a "Golden oshpronemus" that was about the same color as my red bay snook and I took it home.

basically I suppose I'm saying I'm not 100% convinced they are all the same coloration.

some giants get nasty and you will need a very large tank for it to reach its full growth potential. Tank mates are basic, just similar sized fish that wont be easily pushed around. Also, the coloration on these babies generally fades pretty dramatically the larger the fish gets.
