I was looking through Aquabid and I noticed that both Big ear (those with giant flowy Pectoral fins like this one: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwbettashm&1316109138 and Giants (Betta's that are no less than 2.8 inches in length) are going for an average of 100-200 dollars a piece. Are they worth more? Does anyone have any information on these two particular strains of Betta?

never seen those before. especially on a female. not sure on the pricing but its prolly high cuz its kinda rare and the fact that its a pretty female. so its good for breeding so you get nice babies.

not sure if they are worth more. but i would think it would be kinda hard to sell them at that price. i would think only breeders would pay this much for a female for breeding.

I am both. I already breed. Looking to get into different types. I have a bid placed on 12 young big ears for 16 dollars at the moment. I have a feeling they'll go up exponentially higher but that's okay. And I want to get a pair of giants.

Hi Liz Sagara! The big ear variety is new to half moon bettas, and there are not many around yet which is why they are more expensive. It is difficult to find a quality big ear betta right now with nice body conformation and coloring, so the nicer big ears are very expensive.
If you are serious about breeding and are planning on selling bettas, then I'd start working on a big ear line because they are becoming popular and people are willing to pay extra for a nice specimen. If I wanted to make money selling bettas right now, I'd snatch up the best pure white big ear male and female betta I could find.

In general, Aquastar71 (the seller of the big ear female you posted) is one of the highest quality betta breeders I've found, so if you are looking for a breeding pair I'd keep and eye on his auctions. You can always request that a sibling male or female be shipped as well so you have a breeding pair.

I'm not familiar enough with giants to comment on them.

$100 -200 for a giant halfmoon, halfmoon plakat is normal in US! these halfmoon big ears are new fish so that price is ok.

So you guys think it would be worth it to get the pair? I've calculated it all and it would be 281 dollars to buy them and ship them here IF I get the male for 80 (starting bid price buy now is 100) the female for 150 (starting bid price buy now is 200) the 10 dollar fee to ship to the transhipper (5 dollars a fish) the 37 dollar EXPRESS shipping (comes with live guarantee and I'm getting live guarantee if I'm spending more than 40 bucks on these fish) plus the extra 2 dollar boxing fee and extra 2 dollar handling fee for the extra fish. TOTAL: 281 dollars. OR 351 if I do the buy now price... OUCH!!! Which do you think I should do since this is going to make or break being able to do both. Do the Giant pair for 100 + shipping to and from the transhipper = 151 from a breeder named "Chaba".

I mean one's infinitely more expensive than the other (about four weeks worth of pay if I work 30 hours lol) BUT aquastar seems to be the better breeder or at least no one knows if Chaba is a good breeder.
