My local petco gets giants in almost every week they are 16.00 ea.

Those in Petco and Petsmart are often called "king" Bettas. But often they're only half giant (giant mixed regular) or what breeders call grade B giants. Please don't call people liars when you don't know what you're talking about. As far as I concern, Betta keepers, breeders, exporters call the big-sized ones giants.Your post is deceiving. The phrase "giant betta" is typically reserved to Betta Macrostoma, not line bred ornate bettas.
Why common names suck lol.
So these are a breed of larger betta splendens, correct? Not a different species?
