those are awesome crabs, we have them here in the Philippines in the island of mindanao. I've eaten one before in an exotic Chinese restaurant and they are the best tasting crab of all. sadly though they are rarely seen nowadays because of overcrabbing!

we got some hermits here but not as big as that giant one and they dont get tough enough to actually live without any shell. i dont know, it'd sure upset the balance if something like that gets introduced in a tropical island like ours

Whu? Coconut Crabs! Sincerely, thanks for the post. I'll remember to always be cautious if I'm picking a fresh cocunut off a palm tree. That is if I ever get stranded on some deserted island someday. Cool crab dude!
