If I were you I would go as big as possible. There is nothing worse than a tank where the fish look like they can't move because its too small and too many fish. But in all honesty, if I were you I would just invest in the best bass you can find and do an 800 gallon with about 8-10 bass.

thats 2250 gallons you could use a swimming pool heater with diy pvc undergravel filter with a sand filter filtration with a huge sump for bio filter

Minimum 1500g will work out well for 2 dozen cichla but if your stepping into a 4-5+ Tems you may need 2000+ that species grow extremely large

This is a sick sounding set up I would definitally look into following this idea or at least seriously considering it. My mind just got very exited thinking about that.
