Time to call the aquarium and ask if they'd want to set up a tank.. The NYA has a vacant tank since the belugas were moved...catfishlover106;1583650; said:

Its not strung through the eyes, rather the rays operculum and it does no harm to the animal.
Oh? I must've missed the eyes on these then. The spiracles on these are proportionally larger than the ones I'm used to seeing in skates.
IMO - Not the eyes BUT very hard to believe that the ray survived that release. 
That ray must be uber powerful and to let itself be allowed to get tied up like that would mean to me an incredible amount of stress and exhuastion if not a lethal amount to undertake.
Anybody with rays knows that....
1. They dont do well under any stress.
2. Rays will fight you tooth and nail for what they want, whether it be food, to hide, etc.
What say you other ray owners?

Hmm, I didn't think they survived. Were all taken into captivity or is there a release video. Anybody have a species name on these guys?
