take forever to grow? I respectfully disagree my pink one went from 3 inches to 20 inches in 2 years..

they can grow very fast if you feed them lots.

a word of warning though: my fish was very agressive when it got huge. I had to keep him by himself..

it seems to be hit and miss with these guys - sometimes they are friendly, other times they can be nasty..

Agreed on the growth, we've had ours for 11 months and it's grown nearly a foot and I agree with the other bits underneath as well

Anyone know anything about breeding these big creatures. I have just gotten some small ones and I always consider breeding any fish I raise as long as I can get males and females. How old d they have to be, are they bubble nesters, anyone with experience with these guys and breeding them? I am very curious and there is not much info out on the web on them.

For the final home of ours I was thinking around the same so go for it, the difference for me is the space so I would go wider with a little less on the length but it will do fine

Not much info due to the massive amount of space needed, yes they are indeed bubble nesters.

Try getting an exodon and finding info on that on the net

giant gourami are by far my favorite fish, I just purchased a 9-10" red tail. He currently resides in my 180 with a larger bocourti, an equal size severum, some silver dollars and a lima shovelnose cat. Thay all get along great and love there veggies. We purchased another tank a few months ago, but have to wait for our addition to be finished. The new tank is 96"x36"x30", 450gal

when i get this monster tank well monster for me anyway how do you think i could filter it it will probaly be on ground level so i dont know how to filter it
