A good pointLoulou;1684154; said:Which other side, dude? The side of the fish who would spend a short life in horrible conditions? The side of the guy who only cares about how much money he would make? The side of the exasperated parent who would just buy the damn fish to shut up the kid? The side of the person who just wants to satisfy the impulse to acquire a fish (be it to impress others with the "monster predator")?

He is now about 22, 23 inches . you can see him at MFK'S GALLERY or piggypigfish on you tube.Just thought i would share my story with all of you.GIANT GOURMI'S RULE.............

BTW, a blue or black background to your tank would do wonders...

Also a good point, unless of course there is a drought then everything diesTequila;1684759; said:How much better do you believe are the condition you or I, or anyone else keeps their fish in is over that fishes life out in the wild as nature intended it too be. Not stuck in some 55G, 125G, 250G,500G, 15,000 or even 52,000G viewable tank. Wheree they can eat when they can find & catch food not when some keeper decides to throw it too them in the form of pellets, pre-killed, veggies they would never have known, etc. Do you really truely believe that the fish and other animals in your care are having a better life then as nature intended.
The side with the parent that don't know how or when to say NO! Well whatever befalls them they deserve. Don't just give in to kids, be a reasponsable adult.

Gussy is just as ornery and cantankerous as ever. I have discovered that he does not like to eat carrots, and isn't overly fond of apple slices. Avocado, however seems to rate up there with strawberries. Makes one heck of a mess though, requiring 2 filter cleanings.
Those of you wanting a cheap bulk food for your GG, try dry cat food.
Funds have been short in this house lately, so I haven't even been looking for a big tank. Positive change is on the horizon, so hopefully Gussy, or Gustavo, as I've been calling him, will be able to move up in tank size this year.
It sure would have been an honour to photograph GeorgeYanbbrox;1695680; said:Matt, Btw way we were musing about what they don't eat a few pages back, carrots at the ready gg keepers
Btw we finally have had sighting of teeth on George, short of importing the photo expert Loulou, or a Koji for that matter, pictures will be hard to get although there is always a chance of a new camera![]()
