Added an arowana the other week and she beat it up straight away.
Ok, when i seriously started fish keeping when i was 14-15, i had a friend whose family runs a cichlid farm. I bought lots of fishes from them. After loosing lots of fishes due to fights, his mum told me, " if ur fishes r beating the hell out of each other, means u dun have enough fishes in ur tank!" This tip seems to work for me so far. But of cos, must be able to maintain the water quality.
Here's some pics i saw in another forum. Amazing number of fishes and all seems to be doing great!
)! Fortunately, he survived and healed quite nicely except his pectorals did not re-grow correctly. So he does not swim as well as perhaps he should. Making sure he got food in a community tank was a challenge as the faster fish would eat everything. So I got into the habit of spoon feeding him (literally) to make sure he got fed. A habit I still do today and that was over 15 years ago (he is 14" now). As a species they were virtually unheard of back then and highly doubtful anyone was farm raising them yet. Can anyone shed some light on the differences? This has been bothering me for the past several years that I have unable to locate a single image similar to my Gourami. I will post a pic soon, but was wondering if anyone has heard or seen what I am talking about? Thanks for any info.
