I especially like the marbled pattern around the head. What part of Mexico are they native to?

Three keeled turts are native to southeastern Mexico, especifically to the states of Tabasco, southern Veracruz, and the Yucatan Peninsula.

You can find them in central America aswell. :)

Cheers Dan.

....%$#:grinno:....and didnt we had a nice chat on why shouldnt we house snappers with any other turtles?;) Oh and by the way avoid sand at least by now, could cause a gastrointestinal blocage on your turts if injested and will do nothing but make the enclosure hard to clean

:iagree: Snappers are just evil awesome but still evil. And I have sand in a rubbermaid with my softies and it is a pain to clean I wish I didn't have it in there but they love to burrow in it.

Chill out bro....:nilly: The snapper is along with the GMMT in the meantime I get another setup moreover they have been together since they both where very small and they are still small, hardly 3" of shell.

I am going to put them apar trust me.

Regarding the sand issue, it is pretty easy to have it cleaned, I have an inner filter of 300 lts per hour and water remains crystal clear because sand does not keeps the dirt so it makes really easy the filter captures it.

I had a subtrate of bigger rocks but I was adviced to get rid of it because turts can swallow a rock and die.... is it the same with sand?.

Leave you another very nice pic:
