Ok my friend is moving and want to know if I want his 125 with 5 9 in red bellieds. He has a fx5 and an AC 110 as the filtration. Would you add anymore., I am moving so money is tight and I couldn't put any cash into. So is the filtration good enough for 5 Ps in a 125.

Yeah that's enough. Make sure you do your regular water changes and clean out anything they don't finish during a feeding.

ek...just now realized my location is on my name, guess i should change that, and yea i do 50% wc one a week on all my tanks and id probably keep this as bare bottem

I have same setup and only run an fx5 with a sf and 1400gph korillia evo, they love strong current.

If you want to cut down on wc and nitrates try some pothos!

yea F1, i have seen the pothos, and do want to try,it. It is a 90 mile drive to get it, would the P's get stressed enough to attack each other. I have a few 5 gallon buckets and I do have one of those wallworld christmas tree rubbermaid container. through a air stone with a porable air pump ?

You want nitrate control, put in some dwarf sag and vals in a high light tank. Im DOSING my 90 gallon tank with 3/4 tsp of nitrate, and its 0ppm the next morning. Either way, cutting back on water changes isnt the right answer imo. Frequent and large water changes are excellent for removing, not just nitrate, but also removing growth inhibiting horomones, and replenishing trace minerals and such.

Anyways, 90 miles aint that bad. I had buckets of 5-6" cariba for a trip that took 5 hours due to traffic. A battery operated air pump isnt a bad idea, but they should be fine without it. I've had piranha kill each other in many ways, but so far, none have killed each other in a bucket.

Dosing your tank with nitrate, you mean kno3 (potassium nitrate) or sodium nitrate aka fertz?? And cutting back on wc is awesome, no matter what a small wc every week is more then sufficient to replenish minerals. Saving time and money is great IMO!

Mopani, looking forward to your pothos and piranhas in the near future! Hit up the sticky if you have any questions.

Yes exactly F1, because my fish cant produce enough NO3 for the plants.

If saving 10 minutes a week and $50 a year is that important to you, youre in the wrong hobby.
