Just out of curiosity. If I wanted to build an indoor pond that was capable of comfortably holding a couple of full grown arapaimas, how big would you all recommend?

My wife would love to have a large indoor pond/aquarium with arapaimas and RTCs. Obviously I would too, but I want a realistic estimate of what this would entail.

I saw a couple of them in a smallish pond in a Malaysian zoo. There was a sign saying not to reach over and pat them as they will eat your hand! LOL

I felt a bit sorry for them as the pond wasnt that big and they were huge! Very friendly though - would come over the the edge of the pond and look up through the water at you, I wanted to pat one, but also wanted to keep my hand!! :D

you should have no problem keeping them in an olympic size pool!

Ok... as they have stiff bodies they need a turning space as long as their length if possible.

hence i would put a width of of at least 8ft and a length of about 16ft at least.
