It's for the well being of the animals he is keeping. Arapaima are illegal in Texas without proper permits and also why some one would keep a big cat beats me. Yeah they are cool and big but the question are they properly housed in an enviroment where they can react and let loose there natural instinct without killing people. The Lynx is really no biggy but they are low in numbers in the world today. I mean the neighbors dog may go missing one night but thats it lol. What are your plans with that Arapaima? You will not be able to keep tham unless you have a tank thats 40 feet by 15 feet lol. They are the true monster fish! Silver Aro's are too at 3.5 ft. Other wise nice pets but by me they should be kept in a more natural enviroment than a house.

Its a public forum, there's gonna be some recourse when showing your big cats on leashes. Not to mention the arapima considering its a fish forum where its a controversial issue.

because of the pima police.. :duh:

I agree the cats are controversal but pima's are sold everywhere and no one asked if he had a permit.. just assumed.. Not to mention no one's checking states/policys for fish like piranha's and other illegals that are state banned altogether and people own...

Texas is BIG time into busting people for owning arapaima. Along with that, Texas has more privately owned tigers than there are tiger left in the wild. Shocker.

I appreciate all of the kind words from the posting. As far as the Gigas goes, I was told they were legal by what I "THOUGHT" was a reputable source??? Cats have permits...looking into gigas...Thanks

If you need a contact name to apply for the permit, let me know. If you need a tank for him after he out grows yours - I can help with that, too. :D

Thanks zoodiver...I will pm you for your contact. The tank is actually going to be for sale in a couple of weeks. I have plans for a larger tank once we close on the house.
