You should probably get a test kit and find out if you're tank is cycled first of all.

Just brought a master test kit so test everything when I knock off work. I have a fluval 405 and a 1200 aqua one. I know the aqua one isn't the best but I'm not made of money haha.

As in the aqueon 1200 powerhead? Just the fluval as a filter on your tank is not adequate.

Let us know what the tests show. Definitely assuming its your water quality.

Are you sure it's gill curl? Any pics?
 
I'm not 100% he gill is just sticking out on one side abit and keeps moving it out sounds like gill curl. I will take a pic of it but its just really hard coz he moves so much.
