Good job. The soft membrane is growing back nicely.

Just for info, the hard gill plate is the one which is not possible to grow back 100% if cutted. Only the soft tissue is able to grow back good as new.

Thanks Koji!

It was a big mistake I took back in 2002 when I did a gill curl surgery on my SR. I cut the gill plate and it didn't grew back. Later on 2004 I found something interesting the "massage method", did it with my jardini and I like it better. Continue the same method till now.

Massage method will work if the gill curl is detected early. Provided, the water it's in is not causing the curling. If so, it will only work if the water condition was improved if not the same problem will just keep coming.;)

Usually I will relocate the fish into another tank with better water condition after I did the op on the fish. Then it's old tank is to be re-set or to correct the condition before re-intro the fish back into there. If not the gill curl issue will still be there, the newly grown out soft membrane will still look curl out.

I just recently move this fish in the comm tank. It used to be by itself when it was at Kenta's tank.

I actually did a massage method on a gill curled that was really worst. Halfway of the gill hard gill plate was curled. I slowly forced it back. It too many massage to let it flatten back. Did the massage once a week in 3 weeks.
