I have a Jardini around 40cm and noticed yesterday it had gill curl. So I lowered the temp to around 26.5 C and did a 50% water change and added prime and salt and a power head with air. Tell me if I'm wrong but is that the way to treat gill curl without and operation? Is there any better ways?

That is a good start, but we need to figure out why this is occurring in the first place. What are your water parameters, how long have you had the fish, how large is the jardini, what size tank is it, and what filtration are you running?

I think its becasue I didnt change the water for about 2 weeks. But after my water change the Ammonia is at 0 and the ph is at 8 and has been for a while. I've had the fish since August last year. It is about 40cm, it is in a 6 by 2 by2 foot tank with an Eheim Professional 3, a sponge filter and a powerhead. Incase you want to know it is currently housed with a Frontosa (formerly 2 but it ate one while it was hungry), 4-5 adult bristlenose and from what a know a few baby bn.

Did you test the water prior to the water change? Unless your tank isn't cycled, missing a water change shouldn't increase anything except nitrates.

No I didn't test the water proir to the water change. I just kinda panicked when i saw the gill gurl and changed the water. I've been running the tank for nearly 2 years or more. What temp. should i have the tank at?

Usually what is the cause of gill curl?

Its caused from poor water quality. What all you have done is good. The next thing is operation if it all doesn't work. If it is in early stages then the fish my recover by itself.

Thats good. Is an operation do-able at home? Or is there a place in Sydney that can do it for me?

I would really advise against doing invasive treatments on your fish. You can look around for a Vet that has experience with fish.
