Gill curl

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have seen Rtcs at this size develop gill curl at a pH of 7.4 With all other readings perfect. The cause as alluded to is likely multifactorial. Some cases being genetic leading to a structural defect others environmental leading to pseudomonas or other infection. Frequent water changes as described can modify the course of the insult to different degrees depending on its cause if caught early. IMO

Nice to see some different oppinions on this matter. One thing we can agree on is that more frequent water changes even if your parameters are fine seems to stimulate a faster recovery. Just want to put that into effect immediately. I say don't remove him from the current tank, as many users on here had removed theirs to another tank and only seemed to worsen the problem, maybe due to change in the water chemistry coupled with stress.

thanks for the advice. i will just do more water changes ans see what happens.
it doesnt seemto be bothering him he is still very active and hungry.
