Gills or parasite?

Mardel Coppersafe has some of the worst reviews from experienced hobbyists. It kills your benefitial bacteria. Stays in the water for up to a month because carbon wont take it out, and the threshold between toxic to fish and toxic to parasites is very slim.

I have no idea where you come up with this stuff, but hopefully no one reading your comment places any value in it. The only time that Mardel Coppersafe can become toxic to a freshwater fish, is if it is used improperly, and the exact same thing could be said about hundreds of other types of medications. Lower pH values can be an issue when treating with copper based medications, but chelated copper, such as Coppersafe, most certainly does NOT kill bio-bacteria.

I've been using this product for probably 15 yrs to treat newly acquired fish that come down with ich, and I have never once had any type of issue with it.

Chris - it looks like some type of gill curl to me, but that's just a guess.

looks like a birth defect ive seen a few bp around here where the gills are showing due to a short gill pallet or no gill pallet has developed from birth
