As pointed out already, the eggs are not sticky. I had a pair a few years back on a bare bottom tank. Not knowing this provided the clay pot and other hides. They were some frustrated it seemed chasing eggs around because each time I was looking or passing by the male would get all defensive and whip all the eggs around then both would frantically retrieve them.
Needless to say I used clay pots but right way up worked like a charm
