Well iv had him for about a month now he’s about 5-6” I have him in my 200 that I just recently put all of my polys in and he seems to be either sucking on them or just snapping at them a little are they known for sucking slime coats off of fish, also id like maybe a little info on how big they get will the 200 be fine for him how to sex them and other stuff like that.

did you get that from frogman? i dont think they are that active. the 200 should be good. im assuming its like 6x2x2? they get two feetish i think.

no down in marion at picture perfect they had it in their for a while so i decided to get it and offered him 25 for it he said yea seemed to be happy to get it out must have been their a lot longer than I thought he had it for like 40 bucks I believe. The tank is 5'x3'x2'

They get over 2 feet, 3 feet is more likely, a 6x2x2 isnt large enough, but thats a 180 anyway, what dimensions are your 200? I'm going to say its going to need an upgrade before its fully grown.

Its 5Lx2Hx3W

IME they dont suck slime coat at all but they tend to be bossy and push other bottom dwellers around. They grow pretty fast if well fed and slow down around 2'. I love these guys and would be interested if you ever decide to sell.

I'd definately agree with the bossy aspect. My old 20" did not like bichir eels. He would suck on them just chase them away and basically made sure that everyone knew that they were in charge. I wouldnt say three feet is realistic. Id say somewhere around 30" is the most likely stoppage point. However, i have heard and seen pics of some close to three feet.

take this as good info. Kevins 2'er was a sweet cat. :rip to bad he's still not around. I bet he would be pushing 28" or better by now.

also there is a member here who has a 3'er.

great doscile cats they don't have a large mouth so it's easy to keep them with much smaller fish.
