did you get pics of your arapaima? Don't be lazy! If you can post, you can take pics too :)

the paima died after like 3 days. should have gotten atleast 2-3 since they have such a poor survival rate at such a small size

im gonna stop and buy some sinking pellets tonight. all i have are floaters.

ask your wife if you can get some more arapaimas since it doesn't count that it died.

try nigtcrawlers, mine's main diet is those and basically any pellet that i have on hand (near anything hikari, various shrimp pellets, alge wafers, etc.) occasionaly i'll mix it up with some krill or shrimp. but worms are a big part, and it's awesome to have it come up and slurp them from your hand. and although it's a big cat their mouth structure isn't deigned for big foods (big shrimps, etc.. and that's just from my observations of mine not scientific or anything) they're more of a subtrate sifter (hence pellets working nicely).
and for easy work getting meats to the bottom get a piece of pvc and you can funnel food directly where you want.

the pvc doesnt work. i can get the food to the bottom it just doesnt stay there for long enough for the cat to get to it. my pacus and oscars are pigs. they dont let much go unnoticed. so until i get them full i cant get anything to stay on the bottom long enough for him to get it. my rtc and 4 line both come to the surface to feed so they are easy. hopefully the giraffe will start coming up off the bottom and eat something. i hate having to feed so much my oscars and pacu get full. (2 cups of pellets and about 3/4lb of meat.)

ahh understood now, yea my giraffe is a hog, so i'm sure yours will be right with the others soon, but give nightcrawlers a shot. i used them to start with as the guy i'd bought mine from fed it only flake and goldfish (well tried goldfish the lima w it usually got those) and it was skinny, has never turned worms down once from the start...good luck

He probably wont be able to resist those nightcrawlers.I just got some new pellets by Nutrafin but they are a little pricey, you can also try the Hikari sinking cichlid pellets, all of my cats love the stuff.

ive tried nightcrawlers. 2 dozen to be exact. nothing. wound up getting picked off by my other cats and pleco's. i have to feed my fire eel worms, wont eat anything else. i also have to fight to get the worms down to it too. my silver aro is a hog and will snatch them up like crazy even if i fill his belly full of pellets or fish fillets first.
