if goig for serra I would want a larger speice in a more open tank, don't want to add any more then what I already have in the tank now.

I don't think you can do a shoal of anything in a 75 besides exodons and wimples. I would put a 5-6 inch elong in a 75g if I was set on P's; either the red throat or the black mask. Honestly though, if i had an empty 75g laying around I'd put a wolf tetra or jaguar cichlid in there.

BTW I just took my final. I got a B on the test, B in the course. Diogenes is done with stress for the summer. Summer should be fun, going to SE asia for a month and getting married so...yeah. :D

if it were me, i'd go with a nice sized elong or manny

That's what I'm afraid I'm going to hear from to guys.."you are crazy of thinking about a shoal of p's in that tinny little tank"
I would also consider wolf fish but ery ery is too small for a 75g and any other will quickly out grow it.

damn man you mean you didn't get an A? that's just unacceptable, you should cancel your trip and take some summer classes :naughty: just kidding.
Congrats Diogenes. that's what's good about being in school you get to "enjoy" summer. have fun in SE Asia.

I was also thinking about them I know elong gets to about 12" max but very rare so I don't have to worry about it out grow the tank. what about manny? how long can it last in the tank? assume it doesn't just drop dead under my care. i know it can get huge. and both would need powerful power heads? will a 400gph be ebough?

realistically, neither of the fish would be likely to outgrow the 75, although the manny would have the potential to do so. with the manny, they tend to be REALLY touchy, so a bigger tank can help to avoid some of the problems that they are notorious for. an elong would be a great choice, and a strong powerhead would be a good idea

Yea, I've read that manny doesn't handle stress as well as other piranhas and many owners had had the experiences that it just drop dead on them very suddenly.
my AC802/AC70 has 400GPH, think that's enough current for a elong in 75g?

yeah, try it out and see how you like it... i love elongs

cool. do you have pic of your elong that you can share?

also, how easy is it to get elong on dead food? I heard it only takes live in most cases?? could be wrong
