Around the corner
If you were a philanthropist, with deep pockets, to which noble cause(s) would you most likely contribute?

For me, it would be animals and the homeless

You do not have to have big pockets to contribute, I am a young kid and I volunteer in animal shelters and try to mainly deal with Pit Bulls (as that is the breed I love, think is mistreated, and misunderstood).

But if I had the money I would try to help out more with money related things as well. I would love to run my own shelter.

it all depends on the owner with pitbulls
That is exactly the problem, the dog in general is very people friendly and is in fact animal aggressive (but so are just about all other breeds above the knee, were either bred for hunting, fighting, or attacking people).

The fighting reputation the dog has (that locking jaw bull**** is not true and this is not even the strongest dog out there, there are tons of breeds that will eat a Pit Bull no problem). But people in general are unaware and you get these idiots who take these dogs without having a clue to protect their house or for fighting and intentionally abuse the dog and whatever else. And the result is obvious. If you keep it in your house as a couch dog, it will be the friendliest thing alive!

I know that this is off topic but the most dangerous dog I ever saw was a afgan hound that a neighbor kept several years ago. It got out one morning and went nuts, killed a couple cats, gutted a couple dogs, literally, including a rottweiller, and put two people in the hospital including it's owner who damn near died. Another neighbor shot and killed it. The damn dog was FAST and left long slashing wounds instead of regular bite marks. Scary.

I know you don't have to have money to be a philandthropist. I was just asking that if you DID have money, where would it go. I very much like the project to which Jimmy Carter had gotten involved , Habitat For Humanity.

I would open a wolfdog sanctuary.

I don't like pits much since the lady I work for called me over to her house one weekend (nearest vet is 100 mile drive on the weekend) and I had to watch a dog that had been penmates with her two pits for years bleed to death. I know it's not the dogs fault but yuck...
