Heres a cardboard replica of what my 1/4" glass 78"x24"x18" would look like size wise. only going to cost me $233 for the glass. also do i build this on anyflat surface? or do i put styrofoam down like the pink insulation kind, and when siliconing do i only put a bead around the bottom glass edges and then stick the other peices on, or do i put a bead on the bottom peice AND the vertical peice going on?

Are you sure 1/4" glass will be strong enough for that size tank? Even smaller 55 gallon tanks are built with 1/2" glass. The weight of the water in the tank will be well over 1200 pounds.

as long as its only 18" tall garf suggests 1/4" and gman built a tank similar to mine except 6x2x1 out of 1/4" float glass and his works great he only braced his across the middle with 1 brace im going to use 2

That 6" lower and 12" shorter equates to 400 pounds less weight on the glass in his tank.
