Glass and acrylic tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine was the side. The bottom I would think would have way more pressure than the sides. Unless something is supporting the bottom 'glass itself, it will flex and boom come off.

don't you always support the bottom of your tanks. it is comment sense to. heck even glass will break if it's not supported.........

No my tank hovers in the air:nilly:

I dont know how bottom peices are held in, I am not about to turn it upside down and look. Do it as you will

the rest of the "tank" will sit on the acrylic so all the weight will be pushing straight down which should be fine..... i hope

not true. if you look at any cheap glass stand built by any manufacture, it is open bottom. glass only needs to be supported on all 4 edges. the reason for this is if the wood has some imperfection or a small piece of "something" it will press against it and crack the glass. if you support the bottom on glass you need styrofoam under it to absorb the imperfections!! with acrylic, if you dont support the entire bottom, then have fun swimming.

Ya when I went under my tank and saw that the middle was floating and only held by the ends I got worried.

lol ok. well when it's done it will be placed on foam on the shed floor for a bit, need to make a stand for it before i can bring it inside.

as for starting it, friends seem to think my full time job is computer repairer.... it's not.

it hopefully will be done soon and i will post pictures for comments..
