Glass Aquarium Theoretical Max?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I recently had a quote for a new tank,i wanted an 11ft x 2 high x 27" back to front, and the qoute was in 1/2" glass which had to be built on site and the length would have to be 10ft 6" it was £1900,if i wanted the extra 6" on the end it was another £400 + 17.5% vat!!!!!!!!.

Oh and thats just for the glass,as i make my own stands and lids.

But the company said this size would not be a problem as they were currently builing a 6 metre one for a customer.

cheers steve

also i think weight would be a factor for a glass atnk if you ever have to move it

A LFS near me has this tank that I think is 8'x4'x4' It's I think 1" glass and has full metal braces. looks sweet.

I would say go fiberglass with single glass pane for viewing. Plus if you go fiberglass you can texture it or decorate it for a more natural look.
