Glass lids from homedepot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most glass shops will sell you used glass for 50% of the cost of new...locally I can get 1/4" glass for $2.50 a square foot. It's a good option for heavier lids. 1/4" is a lot more forgiving if you drop it, or need to weigh it down to keep jumpers in the tank.

I would becareful with the HD glass. I went that route for my 40g breeder. Went to open up the wrapping and cut myself rather badly as the edging was not rounded and very sharp. Tossed that idea and went and bought some lids.

First thing I do with fresh cut glass is sand all edges with 80 grit sand paper

^^^agree. with any glass you should be careful. If your not sure on its smoothness or not assume its rough. Agree 1/4 inch would be better but for 6 bucks I'm happy. Def will keep my jumpers in and evaporation to its lowest
