Glass residue? Nothing has worked

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have the same problem except its on the inside and only the top 1/4 of the tank because they guy I bought it from always kept the water low and I've tried everything and can't get it off I'll try the car wax but it doesn't sound fish friendly ???

Yeah the cleaner should only be used if the tank is not housing any fish. I drained my 210 put all my fish in buckets and did the whole thing in one day. Washed the tank and wet dry vaccumed all the water out filled it up and threw the fish back in and Bob's your uncle.

Dawn dish soap and baking soda. Mix it together in a bucket and use it like car wax. Wax on, buff out. Its the only thing that gets rid of the stains from my well water. If it is actually a stain. If its etched then you may need a buffer.

You have to use TURTLE wax

I am glad this thread came up - never thought about all of this stuff, Have stains on the outside of a few old tanks that I could never figure out how to get rid of.... I ll have to give some of these suggestions a try.

To the OP good luck with getting the residue out!

Might be hard but take a pic. If it is cloudy hazy and hard to see through then it could be. I used an abrasive paste cleaner but this has worked for others in the past.
