glass rimmed tank on floor with shims?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I feel the same way. It has to be a risk on some level. I'm just going to wait until I can get a nice piece of plywood. Silicone is still curing anyway.

CAM04919.jpg What about this stuff? I know its fairly low tier. Will it work?

Plywood is always better than OSB. But I dont see why it wouldn't work. They build houses out of the junk lol.

The stuff doesnt like water. Make sure you paint it

Exactly lol. Its not the best strength wise but its used as walls, floors and roofs. Quite odd but i guess its working lol.

But if its just going on the floor i dont see why it wouldnt work.

I completely forgot I had a gigantic piece of that stuff sitting in storage. I still might hold out for pressure treated 3/4". I drive a jetta, so I'm going to have to con someone into letting me take their truck for a joyride.

Plumbing this sump is going to be a nightmare. I have very little room to work with. Really glad I'm going to be going the k1 route.

As Mudbutt mentioned, don't shim the tank. Seems like you've moved past that idea, but just wanted to confirm those thoughts. Shimming the tank can cause twisting. Some plywood under the tank then shimming the plywood is the route to take.

I had a 100 gallon metal frame years ago that I stuck in a closet with a pair of 2x4's under it. Loved that tank and would still have it if my brother hadn't gotten divorced. That is a painful tale of woe!

I don't understand what you mean. I'm sorry about your brother. Rough stuff.

Just that you can put a tank on the floor if you have something under it to distribute the weight. Then you can shim that.

Then I went on a mini rant when I remembered how rare a five foot hundred gallon meta-frame tank is and I had one, sorry
